# Custom Sorting

Your feed's **Rules** decide which posts get in. How those posts are *ordered* is set in the **Page** section at the top of the Feed block in the editor, using **page layers**.

Every feed starts with a single layer that shows the newest posts first. You can change its ordering, or add more layers to mix orderings on every page: for example, 70% newest posts and 30% trending.

## The orderings

- **New**: newest posts first.
- **Old**: oldest posts first.
- **Trending**: posts gaining engagement quickly, with older posts decaying over time.
- **Blend**: a mix of recency and engagement.
- **Best Of**: the strongest posts, with a gravity setting that controls how quickly older posts sink.
- **Wilson Trending**: ranks posts by how your feed's own readers react to them, including their "show more" and "show less" feedback.

## Tuning an ordering

Each layer has its own **Parameters**, such as how much likes, replies and reposts count, how far back to look, and how quickly posts decay. Leave a field blank to use the default.

Each layer also has **Thresholds**, which let you require a minimum number of likes, replies or reposts before a post can appear in that layer. For example, a Trending layer could require 10 likes while a New layer next to it shows everything.
